And it came to pass after this, that David the LORD, saying, Shall I go up into any of the cities of ? And the LORD said him, Go up. And David said, shall I go up? And he said, .

And David sent the men of Jabeshgilead, and said them, be ye of the LORD, that ye have this your lord, even unto , and have buried him.

And now the LORD and truth unto you: and I also will you this , because ye have done this thing.

Therefore now let your hands be strengthened, and be ye : for your master is dead, and also the house of have me king over them.
现在你们的主扫罗死了，犹大家已经膏我作他们的王，所以你们要刚强奋勇。”

But the son of , captain of Saul's host, took the son of , and brought him over to ;
扫罗的元帅尼珥的儿子押尼珥，曾将扫罗的儿子伊施波设带过河到玛哈念，

And they caught every one his fellow by the head, and his sword in his fellow's side; so they fell down together: that place was called Helkathhazzurim, which is in .

押尼珥对他说：“你或转向左，转向右，拿住一个少年人，剥去他的战衣。”亚撒黑却不肯转开不追赶他。

And Abner said again to Asahel, Turn aside from following me: should I to the ground? how then should I hold up my face to brother?
押尼珥又对亚撒黑说：“你转开不追赶我吧！我何必杀你呢？若杀你，有什么脸见你哥哥约押呢？”
撒下2:23
he refused to turn aside: Abner with the of the him under the , that the came out behind him; and he fell down there, and died in the same place: and it came to pass, that as many as came to the place where Asahel fell down and died stood still.
亚撒黑仍不肯转开，故此押尼珥就用枪尾刺入他的肚腹，甚至枪从背后透出。亚撒黑就在那里仆倒而死。众人赶到亚撒黑仆倒而死的地方，就都站住。

And the children of gathered themselves together after Abner, and became one troop, and stood on the top of an hill.
便雅悯人聚集，跟随押尼珥站在一个山顶上。

Then Abner called to Joab, and said, Shall for ever? not that it will be in the latter end? how long shall it be then, bid the people return from following their brethren?
押尼珥呼叫约押说：“刀剑岂可永远杀人吗？你岂不知终久必有苦楚吗？你要等何时才叫百姓回去，不追赶弟兄呢？”

And Joab said, As God , unless spoken, surely then in the morning the people had gone up every one from following his brother.
约押说：“我指着永生的 神起誓，你若不说戏耍的那句话，今日早晨百姓就回去，不追赶弟兄了。”
撒下2:28
So Joab blew a , and all the people stood still, and pursued after Israel no more, neither fought they any more.
于是约押吹角，众民就站住，不再追赶以色列人，也不再打仗了。

And Abner and his men walked all that night through , and passed over , and went through all Bithron, and they came to .
押尼珥和跟随他的人整夜经过亚拉巴，过约旦河走过毕伦，到了玛哈念。

And Joab returned from following Abner: and when he had gathered all the people together, there lacked of David's servants nineteen men and Asahel.
约押追赶押尼珥回来，聚集众民，见大卫的仆人中缺少了十九个人和亚撒黑。

But the servants of David had of , and of Abner's men, so that three hundred and men died.
但大卫的仆人杀了便雅悯人和跟随押尼珥的人，共三百六十名。
